Cloud Managed Networks (CMN) has successfully completed its first Verkada camera installation featuring 5G/LTE connectivity on a school bus, marking a key step forward in mobile video security applications.

The project required precise coordination and on-site adaptability, navigating cold weather conditions, confined spaces, and real-time network optimization. The installation team managed the entire process, from planning and cabling to camera configuration and connectivity testing, demonstrating CMN’s ability to deliver seamless, high-performance installations in demanding environments.

Team members Madison, Damian, Jake, and Ofir each played critical roles in project management, installation precision, field leadership, and remote technical support. Their combined expertise ensured the installation was completed safely, on schedule, and according to performance specifications.

This deployment served as a proof of concept for mobile surveillance infrastructure, showcasing how Verkada’s edge-based video intelligence and reliable 5G/LTE connectivity enable:

  • Continuous, high-quality live video streaming from moving vehicles
  • Real-time visibility for transportation and security teams
  • Remote access to camera feeds without dependence on local networks

The outcome highlights the potential of mobile-ready video systems across dynamic environments such as school transportation, fleet management, and public transit.

Extending Student Safety Beyond the School Grounds

Every day, more than 2 million students across Canada rely on school buses to travel safely to and from class. Yet, traditional security measures often leave a visibility gap once students step off school property.

With connected 5G/LTE video systems, transportation teams and administrators can now maintain end-to-end situational awareness. These solutions provide:

  • Real-time monitoring of student safety, driver behavior, and route activity
  • Instant response to incidents such as accidents, bullying, or unauthorized access
  • Verified video evidence to support investigations and insurance reporting
  • Improved communication between schools, fleet managers, and first responders

Verkada’s cloud-managed video platform, combined with mobile5G/LTE connectivity, provides schools with a scalable and secure way to protect students on every route, effectively extending the security perimeter beyond the school grounds.
